Culture Vultures meeting: Culture Wars

logo of the Culture Vultures reading group, red lettering on a red-and-blue star and a blue vulture, all on a white background

What is fuelling today’s culture wars? In America and Britain, the “culture wars” are fuelling hatred and division. Arguments over racial justice, transgender rights, abortion and other political and social issues are becoming more polarized. Sociologists talk of “affective polarisation”, where one side is driven by an instinct to defeat the other.
The Economist, Sep. 22nd 2022.

Why is that and what can we make out of it?

Cuture Vultures invites everybody to the next meeting in which these questions and others will be discussed in a conversation with students and staff members.
