About us

The Faculty of English, AMU is the largest centre for English studies in Poland and Europe, valued for its scientific achievements and staff with extensive teaching and research experience.

The Faculty of English offers full-time and extramural B.A. and M.A. programmes in English Philology, as well as full-time B.A. and M.A. programmes in Dutch Studies. Our educational offer also includes: American Studies, English-Celtic Philology, English and Chinese Studies, English Studies: Literature and Culture, English Linguistics: Theories, Interfaces, Technologies, as well as Polish-English Conference Interpreting, Creative and Specialized Translation, and an interdisciplinary programme Language, Mind, Technology. For years, the Faculty of English has been ranked first in “The Perspektywy University Ranking” for humanities in the category of “English Philology”.

The academic and teaching staff at the Faculty of English are all outstanding literature and linguistics scholars conducting interdisciplinary research. The Faculty of English offers students the opportunity for scientific development through participation in reading groups, which are a platform for exchanging ideas and developing research projects. Our state-of-the-art laboratories are where advanced research is conducted in such fields as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, phonetics and phonology, as well as translation process and new technologies.

The Faculty of English is a research centre recognised worldwide thanks to our cooperation with European universities (for example, within the Erasmus+ programme, the European University Alliance EPICUR, and bilateral agreements), organisation of international conferences and congresses, and active participation in prestigious academic organisations. Students at the Faculty of English can participate in exchanges with countries such as: Chile, Spain, the Netherlands, India, Ireland, Germany, South Africa, USA, United Kingdom, and Italy.
