The Department of Dutch and South African Studies announces the following guest lecture by Dr Anderson Lucas Macedo (Europa-Universität Viadrina): Cape Town flats; constructing their own way of talking.

Anderson Lucas Macedo is a linguist and postdoctoral researcher specializing in sociolinguistics, language identity, and language ideologies. His research focuses on the linguistic and cultural representation of German immigrant descendants in Brazil, as well as the Afrikaans language and its connection to the ethnic identity of Coloured youth in Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a cotutelle PhD in Linguistics (Viadrina University and Universidade Federal Fluminense) and has published on topics such as multilingualism, linguistic attitudes, and the sociopolitical implications of language use.
