Prof. dr. Jan ten Thije (Universiteit Utrecht) in Poznań

Between April 8th and 12th, Prof. Jan ten Thije from Utrecht University visited the Department of Dutch and South African Studies.

Prof. Ten Thije delivered two engaging presentations. The first, held in Dutch on April 9th and, was titled 'Interculturele communicatie als mediation'. During this presentation, Paulina Wołoszyn and Daria Boruta – two graduate students of Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University – presented also their research results on the representation of Poland in Dutch newspapers and the communication between work migrants and the authorities in the province of Limburg. This lecture was attended by 3BA and 1MA students of Dutch Studies, as well as the employees of the Department.

On April 11th, Prof. Ten Thije delivered a guest lecture in English, titled 'Modes of communication: Multilingualism and lingua receptiva'. This presentation was attended by students of 1BA, 2BA, and 1MA of Dutch Studies, as well as the employees of the Department. Both events were a remarkable opportunity for attendees to enhance their understanding of intercultural communication and receptive multilingualism.
