Two literary translations by Dr. Marta Listewnik, from Welsh to Polish and from Polish to Welsh, have been published in recent weeks: „Ostatni dzień” (Y Dydd Olaf/The Last Day) by Owain Owain and “Cyswllt” (Kontakt) by Jadwiga Graboś.
„Ostatni dzień” (Y Dydd Olaf/The Last Day) by Owain Owain, published by Wydawnictwo WOLSKI, is a visionary dystopian fantasy novel written in the 1960s, which discusses the dangers associated with the unbridled development of technology and poses important questions about human nature and free will.
“Cyswllt” published by Welsh press Melin Bapur is a translation of poetry volume „Kontakt” (2023) by Jadwiga Graboś, which touches on socially important topics, such as living with disability, tolerance and taming otherness. “Cyswllt” is the first book translated from Polish into Welsh since 1985.
