On the 22nd of October at 11:30 in Aula we had the pleasure of hosting a meeting with Irish playwright and theatremaker Kate Heffernan. The discussion revolved around issues of censorship in Irish drama.

Homophobia in RTÉ television, sexism in the Abbey Theatre, or the silencing of the “Repeal the 8th” campaign in public space were among the examples of censorship in contemporary Ireland discussed during the meeting with Kate Heffernan. The Irish playwright informed the audience about the current situation in Irish theatre productions, the advantages and disadvantages of theatre festivals, as well as her latest production, “Guest Host Stranger Ghost”, which addresses the taboo surrounding the situation of elderly people in Ireland. The meeting was part of EFACIS Irish Itinerary programme, financed by Culture Ireland.
