Dr Joanna Jarząb-Napierała represented the Faculty of English at AMU during the St Patrick’s Day celebrations held on 13 March 2026 in Warsaw, at the invitation of the Embassy of Ireland.
Dr Jarząb-Napierała attended the event in her role as Vice-President of the Polish Association of Irish Studies (PAIS). During the ceremony, the PAIS Board was honored with the prestigious Bernard O’Connor Award in recognition of its contribution to promoting knowledge about Ireland in Poland.
The visit also included a meeting with the Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, who expressed strong interest in the development of Irish Studies in Poland. This provided an opportunity to present the Faculty’s academic offer, including the English-Celtic program as well as courses in Irish language and literature.
The celebrations took place at the residence of the Ambassador of Ireland, Patrick Haughey, bringing together representatives of academia and institutions engaged in fostering Polish-Irish relations.
We warmly congratulate dr Jarząb-Napierała on this distinction!
