On March 25–26, 2026, the second edition of the FLARE conference – Foreign Language Advancement through Research and Education – was held at our Faculty. The event aimed to create a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the academic community and English language teachers working at various levels of education, from primary and secondary schools to higher education institutions.
The first day of the conference was dedicated to primary and secondary school teachers. The program included three practical workshops conducted by:
- Dr Anna Broszkiewicz
- Dr Tomasz Skirecki
- Dr Michał Kapis.
In addition, the participants had the opportunity to attend two open lectures delivered by Prof. Paweł Scheffler, and the invited keynote speaker, Dr. Karen Roehr-Brackin from the University of Essex.
A significant component of the programme was a poster session prepared by students enrolled in dr Karolina Baranowska’s BA seminar. The students presented their thesis projects, highlighting their practical applications and potential for advancing modern language education. For the students, it was a valuable opportunity to consult their research with practitioners, while teachers were able to familiarize themselves with current trends, particularly those related to the use of technology in foreign language teaching.
As part of the session, a competition for the best poster was also held, and the winner was Ms. Anna Poślad for her poster entitled “The Impact of AI-Generated Lesson Plans on Vocabulary Learning and Students’ and Teachers’ Satisfaction.”
The second day of the conference was addressed to academic teachers. The program focused on current challenges in teaching the culture of English-speaking countries, in particular:
- the sources, methods, and scope of teaching the culture of English-speaking countries in the context of dynamic social and political changes
- the growing role of artificial intelligence in education
- the changing profile of students.
This day also included two open lectures delivered by:
- Dr. Karolina Appelt (Faculty of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences, Adam Mickiewicz University),
- Dr. Mateusz Jekiel (Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University).
In conclusion, the event created a space for inspiring dialogue, exchange of experiences, and the presentation of innovative solutions in foreign language teaching. Both teachers and students were able to gain valuable insights and new perspectives to apply in their teaching and research work.
